The Critical Care Nurse primary responsibility is to evaluate intensive care patients, recognizing complications, administering care, and coordinating with other members of the critical care team. Key Responsibilities: • Assist physicians with procedures such as bronchoscopy, endoscopy, endotracheal intubation, and elective cardioversion. • Ensuring that ventilators, monitors, and other types of medical equipment function properly. • Ensure that equipment or devices are properly stored after use. • Prioritize nursing care for assigned critically ill patients based on assessment data and identified needs. • ICU nurses must be able to draw ABG Blood and interpret the report correctly. • ICU nurses should have enough knowledge about GCS (Glasgow Coma Scale) and also the evaluation capacity of patient condition. Requirements: • Must have a Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution. • Must have a higher diploma in Critical Care nursing from a recognized institution. • Must be registered with the nursing council and possess a current license. • Training in BLS and ACLS is an added advantage. • Minimum working experience of two years in a busy ICU. • Must have good communication skills both written and oral. • The candidate must be self-driven and self-motivated.

Responsibilities Review of patient’s history and clinical presentation to ascertain the correct investigations, diagnosis and management plan. Diagnosis of illnesses and institution of the correct management including conducting minor procedures, resuscitation and all other medical treatment as per the treatment protocols. Run daily pediatric outpatient clinic. Admitting patients requiring special care followed by investigations and treatment. In collaboration with the rest of the clinical staff, receive and attend to patients requiring emergency medical attention. Whenever necessary, refer patients for further management in higher level institutions. Refer complex cases to the pediatrician. Conduct follow ups and reports all complications in writing within or before the end of current duty. Implement a smooth, efficient client flow to minimize client waiting times. Participate in quality improvement activities. Attend and participate in weekly Continuous Medical Education (CME) sessions at the hospital. Requirements Knowledge and Experience Required Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery and Higher Diploma in Pediatrics and Child Health. Registered by the Kenya Clinical Officers Council and in possession a valid practice license. Trained in IMCI. Certification in the short emergency courses (ETAT+, EPLS or EmONC) will be an added advantage. Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an RCO and one year experience post specialization. Skills Excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail. Able to work in an emergency area. High regard for confidentiality and demonstrable integrity Commitment to excellent client care and the delivery of client-focused services. St. Francis Community Hospital is a Faith Based Hospital which was officially opened in January 24, 2009. It is located along Kasarani-Mwiki Road, Nairobi. It is neat, efficient, affordable and patient-friendly. It is run by the Little Sisters of St. Francis of Assisi under the Archdiocese of Nairobi. The hospital has partnered with many organizations in promoting effective and efficient quality health care services. The hospital neighborhood is surrounded by a population of over 400,000 persons who are mainly living in slums and of very low income earning. The hospital has a bed capacity of 100 beds. Currently the hospital management is undertaking phase two of the hospital construction to provide room for the needy services like – new theatre, Dialysis Unit, HDU/ICU, pediatric ward, theatre and surgical ward. The bed capacity will be raised to 150 plus. The completion is expected in July 2016. SUMMARY The Nurse will work with other staff to maintain high standards and actively promote quality health care delivery and smooth running of the institution and to provide care to patients in the institution who require acute medical intervention that can be provided by a Nurse. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Assessing, planning implementing nursing interventions and evaluating patient’s outcomes; Providing appropriate healthcare service including Integrated Management of Childhood Illnesses (IMCI), immunization, PMTCT, ante-natal care and delivery, Providing health education and counselling to patients/clients Referring patients and clients appropriately; Facilitating patients’ admission and initiating discharge plans; Ensuring a tidy and safe clinical environment; Maintaining accurate, complete health care records and reports. The Internal Auditor will be responsible for conducting internal audits of the hospital, preparing internal audit reports and highlight issues relating to internal controls & risk management. The Internal Auditor shall evaluate the adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the hospital’s risk management processes, internal control systems and recommend corrective actions, improve efficiency and reduce operational costs where possible Key Responsibilities • Risk Management • Prepare a risk based internal Audit Plan/ Program for every financial year. • Identify internal controls issues for key risk processes in a timely manner to proactively avert losses; • Coordinate with relevant departments on the preparation and updating of the risk register for presentation to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Hospital Advisory Board (HAB). • Internal Audit and Controls • Developing and presenting for approval the internal audit charter • Planning and conducting risk-based audits. Key Competencies • Strong knowledge of standards, procedures, and general auditing policies • Effective and explicit communication skills in both oral and written forms • Ability to analyze and solve problems relating to auditing and related disciplines • Excellent Computer skills and knowledge of audit and accounting software • Possess good interpersonal skills and high level of integrity.
