Rongo university students rescue a baby dumped in a nearby bush.

A baby aged about 3 days old who was dumped near Rongo University in Migori County has been rescued. The baby was rescued by some university students walking to the hostel on Tuesday night. 

Phanis Omondi, a student at Rongo University said she was at the market when she heard the baby crying in a nearby bush.

Omondi said they rescued the baby and handed him to one of the locals living around Rongo University.

Her remarks were echoed by Afline Adhiambo who said that they managed to take the baby to the hospital with the support of the security and children officer.

Migori County police commander Mr. Francis Nguli said the baby is out of any danger and in custody of the Sub-county children officer.

Nguli said they are yet to establish the parents of the baby adding that investigations are underway.

He has appealed to the members of the public to provide any necessary information that can help the police trace the parents.
