Hospital Hill High School team, popularly known as  ‘Inspired’ are seeking more wins as they play four Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) matches this weekend at Nyayo Stadium.

After upsetting giants Strathmore University 32-31 last Sunday, the Hospital Hill High School boys meet champions National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) and debutants Engineers on Saturday.

They return the following day to face last year’s third-placed team General Service Unit (GSU) and will test their might against another newcomer, National Youth Service.

“We have trained well and we welcome these games because they will harden the boys ahead of the regional school games in Rwanda,” offered Hospital Hill coach Emmanuel Wabule.

He added: “I was impressed with their performance against Strathmore and right now I am working more on building endurance.  This is slowly showing as the boys are getting fitter,”

Wabule noted that playing many friendly matches against top sides has also helped harden the youngsters ahead of both the league and the upcoming school games.

“We have played many friendly matches against all the top six teams in the league and as a result, the outcome against the  varsity side did not come as a surprise.”

Inspired lost 36-26 to Black Mamba who were fourth last season and Wabule attributed the loss to inexperience and lack of belief among some of the boys.

“In our first game against Mamba, I used all the players available but some did not perform. So against Strathmore, I went with the experienced ones and you can see the result,” he said.

He will bank on the trio of Brian Wafula, Brian Barasa and Brandon Barasa who combined for the team’s 25 points against Strathmore in that win.

In other matches, Daystar University play GSU who hit NYS 40-26 while Strathmore University will hope to make amends as they confront NYS.

On Sunday, Hunters, who were drubbed 38-12 by NCPB play Strathmore University as Daystar University tackle Engineers.

Women champions Nairobi Water Queens have two matches on the card against Daystar University on Saturday and newcomers NYS on Sunday.

“We are making a return to action after the Super Cup finals. I will use the two matches to assess the level of fitness and teamwork of my players as well as give new signing Sussane Baraza her debut,” said Queens’ coach Jack Ochieng.

NCPB will also play two matches as they meet NYS on Saturday and match up against Daystar University on Sunday.
